thevintagesurfboard.com gives back: early 80’s twin fin by McCoy, The See + Sprout Project and Costa Verde International School

This is a classic piece of surfing history – an early 80’s twin fin by McCoy.

I sold this perfect condition ride on Ebay last November and donated all proceeds  to The See + Sprout. The See + Sprout Project is an international creative collective created to support victims of the 2004 Asian tsunami in Thailand.

In  December 2008 I donated my time to the project as they headed off to Sayulita, Mexico.  The See and Sprout Team did photography workshops  with students from Costa Verde International School, Mexico’s first green school.  www.seeandsprout.com

Take a look at this unusual quad fin by Doug Warren. Does anyone know what the deal is with this shaper? Whomever he is, the shape of this board seems like it would be a fun rider.  I’m listing this board on Ebay starting Sunday, March 22 @ 3:15 p.m. for a seven day auction. Mid 70’s David Nuuhiwa Single Fin Cosmic Ride

I sold this cosmic 70’s David Nuuhiwa single fin on Ebay about a year ago to a private collector. As he walked away with the board, I was bummed that I sold it. However, a few months ago, my hot date and I were cruising through Abbot Kinney, Venice Beach. As we entered the Surfing Cowboys vintage store, I couldn’t believe my eyes, the cosmic Nuuhiwa single fin was sitting in the window and looking good. http://www.surfingcowboys.com/visume.html

Martin Potter Blue Hawaii Pro Model Circa 1988

This board represents one of my favorite surfers, Martin Potter. The best move from Potter was documented in the movie “Blazing Boards.” He was doing a huge front-side round house cut-back where he found himself rebounding inside the barrell. Insane!!!

Circa 1988, Potter and Blue Hawaii introduced the “Pottz Pro Model” that came standard with the flame artwork hugging the rails.  I’ve only seen two these boards along my vintage board collecting journey.  Aloha!
